Grading System

The grading system at Kelle International High School will be students getting graded off of how accurate their work is and a student's completion. We will combine both grades into one. Our accuracy grade will be based from a 1-6 grading system where 1 low failure, 2 is low pass, 3 is satisfactory, 4 is good, 5 is superior  and lastly 6 is outstanding which is the highest they can get. Once students get scored on a piece of work teachers are required to give back feedback of how students can achieve a better understanding of the material being taught. Once students show that they have a better understanding the new grade would replace their current grade. In the TEDx Lincoln talk “The game of school isn't the same as learning” Alex speaks about schools need a better school system in general, the school system that we have now is only worried about student’s grades and how well they do their work. They care about points more than they do about the actual student. “A bunch of other schools traditions reinforce the message that the goal of school is to accumulate points/grades” this tells us how MANY schools focus on what student's grades ate rather than a student themselves. We believe if students can get the opportunity to understand better for the second time with the help of teacher's feedback that they can achieve the goal of getting a better understanding of the material not just a better grade. We don't want students to be defined by how “smart” they are but rather by how much they truly try, which is why we combine our student's completion grade with their scores. We think this is a great and affective way to help our students.
